An app that turns phone screens into a safety network during concerts

Incidents at concerts are on the rise, and getting help quickly has become a challenge. Security staff can’t be everywhere at once, and in a loud venue, a call for help is nearly impossible to hear. But since phones are everywhere, their bright screens have the potential to spotlight ongoing incidents.

To make concerts safer, we created an app that connects phones within a venue, allowing attendees to signal incidents to security staff and highlight what can’t be heard.

When starting the app, you can choose whether you are attending a concert or working as security.
The app detects when someone is inside the venue using geolocation, after which you can enter your event.
Using different colors, attendees can signal various types of incidents.
When someone activates a signal, a notification is sent to the 20 nearest people, dimming their screens to the same color to make the incident more visible from a distance.
Security staff can monitor the event and receive real-time updates on an interactive venue map, where they can claim incidents and receive the fastest route to the location using different map views.
Using Bluetooth, all phones running FLARE during an event connect to each other to enable the safety features.
